By The Byes is 2 minute walk to The Byes and a similar time to excellent bus routes, so it is possible to be car free. A 5 – 10 minute attractive walk through The Byes to the town and Sidmouth sea front and its 2 pebble beaches. At low tide there are sandy areas and rock pools providing hours of fun exploration for families. Sidmouth has numerous beautiful gardens to stroll and admire floral displays which have won national awards. Cinema and Theatre are easily walkable.
The amazing Jurassic Coast offering many beaches and areas of outstanding beauty can be explored by car in both directions driving distance as short or long as desired. Exmouth with wide safe beaches is a 15 minute drive while Lyme Regis is an approximate 20 minute drive. Water safety standards are high.
The annual Sidmouth Folk Festival held at the end of July/beginning of August is a very popular event in the town, bringing music and dance from the world. The Sidmouth Regatta s in August and September is carnival time.
For children apart from numerous safe beaches, the Donkey Sanctuary – 3 miles, a free visitor attraction, Bicton Park Gardens -5miles or Pecorama at Bere offer great alternatives.
For golf enthusiasts Sidmouth Golf Club is 1 mile.
Sidmouth is ideally placed to explore the historic city of Exeter, Honiton, and Dartmoor National Park -ideal for walking. The nearest airport is Exeter 15 miles and Train Honiton 9 miles.
